I had a lovely surprise on the vehicle this morning when I left to go to work. I’m not ready for this snow business.
That is indeed “5:08 am” on the dashboard clock. It was raining today. It was cold today. I wanted to run today. Due to my irrational fear of being cold on my run and my desire not to chafe, I ran indoors and avoided the rain. In other words, I’m a pansy. I felt like a hamster on a wheel today – but I loved every second of it! I don’t know why I felt so good, but I did, so I took advantage of it and ran ELEVEN miles on the treadmill.
It was the longest I have ever spent on a treadmill but somehow it went by SO fast and not once did I think about cutting my run short. I think one of the reasons it went by so fast was that I added some progression to what would otherwise have been a very monotonous hour and a half. I kept track of my miles on my phone. I almost fell off three times typing like 5 characters.
I did three miles of progression, steady pace for four miles, then three more miles of progression, then a cool-down mile.
Mile 1 @ 9:00
Mile 2 @ 8:47
Mile 3 @ 8:25
Mile 4 @ 8:13
Mile 5 @ 8:12
Mile 6 @ 8:13
Mile 7 @ 8:11
Mile 8 @ 8:01
Mile 9 @ 7:50
Mile 10 @ 7:31
Mile 11 @ 8:54
People must have thought I was crazy. I watched the Food Network and TSN during my run – hockey and food makes me happy.
I try and run on this treadmill every time I am at the gym. First, it is #8, and 8 is my favourite number. Second, it is near an air vent so it helps to cool me off. Unlike when I spin, I don’t haul an industrial fan over to my treadmill. That would be really beneficial though.
I timed my stretches today to force myself to stretch for more than 34 seconds. It worked and I did a whole five minutes of stretching! I’m the first to admit I need to stretch more after all of the exercising I do but I get bored way too easily. I suppose I should work on that.
I had a blast running on the treadmill today. In my efforts to avoid the rain, I was able to wear my Runsie and that made it even better! Running AND watching the Food Network for an hour makes me hungry. Time to refuel my body and replace all of those calories I burned. I promise not to just eat spoonfuls of peanut butter to accomplish this task.
