The magic of the Runsie.

My legs were tired ALL day at work. I figured a third day of running at a slow pace would be fine. Then I put on my red Runsie… MAGIC. 8.0 miles at 7:34 min/mile pace.

Isn’t it amazing that doing fewer miles at a harder and faster pace is more rewarding than more miles at an easy or slower pace? Most of my runs are at a comfortable pace. Whatever my legs feel like. Today I started with an 8:01 min/mile for the first mile and then figured I should try and push myself at a bit more of a challenging pace. My mile splits were 8:01, 7:42, 7:50, 7:32, 7:23, 7:27, 7:17, and 7:23. A negative split run, the last half of my run was faster than the first half!

How could I not run outside today when it was SIXTEEN DEGREES OUT! Is this fall or summer?! I love it! I wanted to stay in the sun a little longer so I went for a little cool down walk. I had a friend for this walk, so it was more of a stroll.

We would have gone further but all of a sudden I reached in my pocket and my keys weren’t there! I distinctly remembered locking the door so I panicked, turned around, and retraced my steps home. I found my keys.

Ummmm… yea.

I had a little more energy so I did Level 1 of Jillian’s 30-Day Shred when we got home from our walk. I couldn’t find the DVD but of course Youtube had the video! What did people do before the internet?

That woman knows how to make you work. 20 minutes of working out and I was a sweaty mess all over again. Every time she yelled at me I yelled back. I definitely wouldn’t have the guts to do that in real life. It is my dream to work out with Jillian Michaels. Or Bob Harper. Or Dolvett Quince. Especially Dolvett.

I had an audience doing the 30 Day Shred. Good thing she can’t talk because I look pretty ridiculous doing that video. Those side lunges with anterior raises are no joke.

A hard run feels so good. There were definitely times when I wanted to stop and run at a more comfortable pace but I stuck it out and it felt amazing. I like the feeling of pushing myself every once and a while. The key was wearing my Runsie… it’s magic.

  1. Way to go 🙂 I love your runsie – it looks so light and comfy 🙂
The side lunges with anterior raises are definitely the toughest part… I dread them and then I kill the cardio after them because I’m like “whoop almost done!!” Haha
