I had another episode of Cardio ADHD today at the gym. I started with a mile run on the treadmill (really slowly, I might add), 2000 m row (which took me about 9 minutes), 10 minutes of elliptical, 10 minutes of stair master, and another mile on the treadmill even slower. I finished my workout with 10 minutes of abs. I definitely didn’t drink enough water (or electrolytes) yesterday after my run… super cute Christmas-gift water bottle to the rescue today!
Though I really wanted to do a bit of strength training, the gym was PACKED with all of the New Year resolution folks and there was no where to move in the weights area. I stuck to cardio, decided today would be more of a recovery/easy gym day, and left after my hour workout. Don’t get me wrong, I am so happy to see people trying to get into fitness and making health a priority, but… umm… I’d like to have my peaceful gym back please 😉
I took it easy with the running today as my legs were pretty tuckered out from my 14 mile run yesterday. My legs let me know pretty quickly into my treadmill session today that they were not up for running and my left shin started to tingle so I knew to stop and just take it easy today. I have talked before about how my body is a genius and today it was giving me clear signs that I needed to let my legs recover! I grabbed the ice pack ASAP when I got home from the gym.
I didn’t feel like I was chaffing too much while I was running but in the hot shower afterwards… yikes. I decided to use part of my Running Room gift card for some Body Glide anti-chaffing gel. As much as the lovely chaffing scabs on my legs can be considered pretty badass war wounds, I would really prefer not to chafe on long runs 🙂
