It’s that time of the week again, Motivation Monday! There is lots of motivation to go around, including the upcoming annual Terry Fox Run this weekend, some amazing stories coming out of the latest marathons from around the country, and hilarious things on Pinterest that make me embarrassingly laugh out loud at
school work home.
Yesterday I worked an opening shift at my job which meant I didn’t have time to exercise in the morning. It was weird waking up and not immediately heading out the door for a run or driving to the gym but it was a nice change up. After work I went to the gym for a nice recovery workout after my 12-miler on Saturday. I sweat it up with 30 minutes on the spin bike and 20 minutes on the elliptical. If fartlek spinning is a thing, I think that is what my cycling workout was. I also did my daily wall sit… it burned.
A patron at work brought in a HUGE bucket of crab apples from her tree for all of the staff so we each took some home. I also knew that I had a few brown bananas waiting for me (and a million fruit flies), so I started baking when I got home from the gym. I got a little carried away.
In the above photos; carrot walnut oatmeal muffins, banana blueberry muffins, apple bran muffins, strawberry greek yogurt muffins, double chocolate zucchini loaf, and chocolate chip pecan cookies. I was on a food prep kick so I made a few containers of overnight oats for the next couple of days, some quinoa to add to salads and stir fries this week, and I baked tofu cubes to add to my meals. I think I am set for the week, as is my brother… and our neighbours… and friends…
Having lots of healthy food handy really helps me eat amazingly well even if I am short on time or I am running from work to school to the gym to my bed with no breaks in between.
Here are a few things motivating me this week:
- THIS crazy 1500m sprint finish in a competition in Zurich.
- THIS twin sister running the Disney Princess half marathon in memory of her sister who died tragically in a car accident.
- This just made me laugh.
