Motivation Monday: November 17

After my spontaneous half marathon yesterday morning, I jumped in the car to head to the mall with my mom. We spent the whole afternoon shopping, and I mean the WHOLE afternoon. I had just gone through my closet and donated all of the clothes I don’t wear to the Salvation Army so it was time to buy some new clothes. I don’t go shopping often, unless it is for workout gear, so it was nice to spend a few hours with my mom browsing through stores. My feet were a little sore when we got home because I had just run 13.1 miles and then walked around for 4 hours! A Habs game was the perfect excuse to relax and spend the evening with my feet up on the couch! 

Remembrance Day on Tuesday last week meant the rest of the week FLEW by and somehow we are back to Monday again. No half marathons for me this morning, but I might need some motivation to stretch out my tired legs!

1. Did anyone see THIS article? A man with type-1 diabetes, named Sebastien Sasseville, is finishing his run across Canada for diabetes, called Outrun Diabetes. If that wasn’t impressive enough, this dude is an Ironman who has also climbed Mount Everest.

2. A nice little article about little ways to incorporate exercise into your life. I don’t have kids, I don’t have a husband, and I currently live at home… obviously I don’t have a ton of responsibilities so exercise is able to be a big part of my life. Literally billions of people don’t have these luxuries so THESE are some helpful hints to make working out just another part of your routine. My favourite: 

You don’t have to miss your favourite show… just watch it on the treadmill, or on a stationary bike. You could also plan little at-home exercises to do during the commercials! 

3. THIS one is a huge personal motivator right now. I am about to pull the trigger on a bunch of races for 2015, I am just finalizing my top choices for goal races. There are just so many races I want to do! To add to the confusion, the Calgary Marathon just announced that they are including the 50K option for the 2015 race because it was such a popular event last year when they added it for their 50th anniversary. Hmmm, decisions decisions.
