National Peanut Butter Day.

I celebrate many holidays and often claim “Christmas” is my favourite but really, I think this one takes the cake… peanut butter cake that is. IT’S NATIONAL PEANUT BUTTER DAY! Get your party pants on because we are going to celebrate this holiday hard. Don’t miss this one, but if you do, don’t worry, in a few weeks we can celebrate National Peanut Butter Lover’s Day. Yes, it is necessary to have more than one holiday celebrating peanut butter.

Yesterday I was hungry when I came home from a meeting out of town and ate a flax pita with peanut butter. Best decision of my day. I have actually tried to cut down on my peanut butter intake since the beginning of January because I am terrible at portion control with that stuff. I think that was actually one of the only times I have had peanut butter this month! Anyone who can simply eat one tablespoon of peanut butter as a serving is inhuman. It’s impossible.

I will definitely enjoy some peanut butter today because it’s only right. Whenever my mom looks in the fridge and sees almost-empty jars of peanut butter she asks if I have been eating lots lately…

It was me. Mom, it was me, this whole time. Peanut butter is perfect. It is often a glorified health food and some folks think you can do no wrong by enjoying unlimited quantities of this “healthy” alternative but it is very calorically dense so serving size is super important… hence my pb reduction efforts 😉 I can point to a million different ways I like to enjoy peanut butter but my #1 is peanut butter fingers. What are peanut butter fingers you ask?

My #2 favourite way to enjoy peanut butter… OATMEAL. My aunt thinks I am disgusting for adding peanut butter to my oatmeal but it is insanely good. The peanut butter melts and gets all warm and covers the oats and it’s heaven.

If you want to celebrate this delicious holiday (and I think you should), here are some awesome ways you can do it:

Yesterday I got up bright and early to get in a sweaty cardio gym sesh. Elliptical, walking, running, stair master… I did it all. After some meetings and research work my mom and I went for a 5 mile walk. We chatted about our days and I am 100% convinced the best conversations happen during walks. The fresh air, the exercise, the release of stress, it’s just a chance to vent, inspire, and enjoy each other’s company. It was refreshing and I loved that it was SO WARM we got to spend the time outside!

Be right back; going to finish off a jar of peanut butter. 😉

Are YOU a fan of PB? Do you prefer another nut butter?

Has YOUR winter been unusually warm too??

  1. I love your blog Kris! I started reading it months ago when I was in Australia and now I’m in Canada like you and have sooo much respect for you Canadians and how you keep running during the winter!! Does it snow where you are? I know you said it’s warm but in my experience Canadians have a slightly different perspective on what is warm 😉

  2. Peanut butter, almond butter, cashew butter… I love all nut butters! I have a ridiculous collection of Nuts to You nut butters in my cupboard right now but somehow missed National Peanut Butter Day 🙁
