Somehow I was up until after 1am last night. I watched “A Million Ways to Die in the West” (stupid but hilarious) with my brother after deciding not to risk our lives getting to the movie theatre on icy streets, and then Skyped one of my favourite people in the world. When you don’t run out of things to say after two and a half hours of Skype you know it was a good time. I have lots of facial expression and hand gestures when I talk so Skype > text messages by far.
This morning, after such a wild Friday night, I am heading to the barre. Not that bar, but the one where my legs and arms shake so bad and my heart pumps harder than it ever has using 1lb weights. My parents gave me a TWENTY-class pass for Christmas and I knew I wanted to wait until I was back into the school routine to use it, thus the week has arrived!
Indoor workouts are not only more comfortable right now, they are necessary. It has been crazy cold (-41C windchill thank you very much) and if any exercise is to be done right now, it is indoors. Might as well hit up the barre and treadmill this Saturday morning. It is joke in Canada that the 7-day forecast somehow ALWAYS shows a warm sunny day or two at the end of the week, with bitter cold leading up to that day. When that day actually comes, it is still insanely cold and the supposed warm day has once again moved to the end of the 7-day forecast. It’s what keeps us Canadians full of hope through the winter and prevents us all from moving to California.
I get to enjoy some work, homework, and academic reading this weekend in between the ballet fitness and shorts-and-treadmill running! Whenever it is not necessary that I be outside my house you can guarantee I am in my sweats with a cup of tea by the fireplace. The one good thing about cold winters – cozy drinks and warm houses.
What are YOUR plans for the weekend?
