Yesterday I went to Barre and thought I would maybe go for a quick gym session after on my way home but I didn’t because Barre ate me alive. I dare anyone to try that class and call it “easy” because it is anything but. It astounds me how little we can move but how much those little movements burn. I left already aching! This morning I got up and my calves were so sore from Barre! I hit up the not-icy and warm treadmill for a long-ish run. I have been hearing so much about the podcast “Serial” and was finally convinced to try it out to I had it locked and loaded for my run this morning.
I think it is worth the hype. I was so distracted during my run that I barely looked at the time or distance and just simply focused on the story being told to me! I was so deep in thought and focus that I had a heart attack when my mom came by the treadmill to say “hi” and tell me she was leaving! I also had a friend come run with me for a while and chat so I got through two serial episodes and can’t wait for the third! I took it SO easy today on my run. I was sore and just wanted to have a relaxing run, enjoy my podcast, and not worry about pace, so that is exactly what I did.
Why are my numbers so random? I did a 5 minute walking cool down so I stopped my run 5 minutes before I hit two hours. After my cool down walk I hobbled to the stretching area and did my Core Challenge (which I now have memorized) and stretching. My hamstrings were insanely tight. Fact: My smile is 3% wider for every mile I run.
I didn’t feel like putting my pants on leaving the gym, -20 is shorts weather right? I am now thinking about starting a fashion blog because I tend to make really admirable fashion decisions. Walking to the parking lot is as much cool down as my legs need.
I had a really fantastic week of workouts! I made it back to Barre, I did some strength training, I taught my first spin class, I ran a bunch, and more than that… I had fun! I ran a total of 32.9 miles in 4 days. I am loving running 4 days instead of 5 days a week. My body gets a better break and I don’t feel like I am constantly pushing my tired muscles on the treadmill. I think that will really factor into my marathon training plan which officially begins in 4 weeks!
I am still developing my 16-week marathon training plan but I know for sure it is going to include a lot more cross training than my first marathon training plan did, and I am 100% sure I will be running 4 days a week instead of 5. I know people that can run 6 or 7 days a week and I am extremely jealous of them. I really wish I could but with the other things I like to do like lift weights and spin, it just doesn’t work and my body starts to really hate me! I am excited about this new training plan but it still needs a bit of work before it hits the blog 🙂 .
