Rained out in Vancouver.

Yesterday we woke up bright dark and early to head up to Whistler to go skiing. As we were driving through torrential downpour from Vancouver to Whistler it became more and more questionable whether there would even be snow when we got the the mountain. There was almost no snow in the town of Whistler and most of the lifts were closed on the mountain when we got there! We decided to have breakfast in the village and see if anything changed (you know, in case it snowed three feet and got 10 degrees colder in about an hour). It kept raining and raining and winds picked up to between 40 and 60km/h at the top of the mountain so we took a look around the town and then drove back to the city. It’s a good thing we had lots of coffee!

Once we returned to the city we lazed around and watched Friends on Netflix. I won’t even tell you the number of episodes because it would be embarrassing. Getting home from the airport at 1am combined with getting up at 6am made for some tired people! It was necessary.

After showering and getting ready for the day at 5:30pm… #vacationlife… we headed out for dinner and a movie! We expected to have to wait a while for a restaurant downtown on a Friday night but we got a table right away at Pacifico. We had just been discussing how much I love being in the field of nutrition when my beer and pizza arrive. Nice.

I ordered the Vegetariana pizza (and consequently butchered the name while ordering) and it was AMAZING. I am extremely picky with my pizza and this 100% made the cut. Thin crust, fire grilled, lots of vegetables and not an overwhelming amount of cheese. Nailed it. I need to add artichoke hearts to my food more often.

And the only photo I took on my plane ride: The “live map” claimed we were in Toronto the whole time and I was only slightly concerned I got on the wrong plane.

Time to go on more adventures in the rain! We are checking out THIS family day weekend special and it should be a blast and a half 🙂

Fun things to do in Vancouver?!

Best place to eat here?

  1. Hi there excellent blog! Does running a blog like this take
a large amount of work? I’ve absolutely no knowledge of programming however I had
been hoping to start my own blog in the near future.
Anyhow, if you have any ideas or techniques for
new blog owners please share. I understand this
is off subject but I just wanted to ask. Cheers!

  2. We lived in Portland Oregon for three years. Awesome years, great beer, and LOTS of rain. I feel your pain. enjoy Vancity!! Are you staying for long? Perhaps you could try again next week and there may be more snow?

Currently, we live in Ontario with tremendous amounts of snow! But, sigh….. These ski hills people ski on are nothing more than a small blip. Growing up in Calgary has left me spoiled when it comes to skiing and mountains!
