Spin all day.

Yesterday I taught spin at 6:00am and 6:00pm. I taught my usual night class and picked up a sub shift at another recreation facility for the morning. An early morning class sounded like a really good idea because I am a total morning person, but once I realized I would be working until 10pm the night before and having to wake up by 4:30am, it didn’t sound so wonderful.

I wanted to help out a fellow spin instructor because I know how hard it is to find sub teachers and I would love others to return the favour one day when I need a day off so I have to do my part. I actually had A GREAT morning class! It was in a dynamite spin studio with virtual tour screens, an instructing platform, dimming lights, and surround sound for my music. The early morning peeps ROCKED it. The benefits of teaching at two different spin studios in the same day is that you can use the same playlist because no one would know πŸ™‚

After I had showered after spin class #1, and let’s be honest, had a quick power nap, I curled my hair and enjoyed a relaxing day. My hair was in lovely curls pre-spin class #2.

The lack of curls after spin class #2 shows you just how much I sweat in class. That hair spray didn’t stand a chance. I also have this dorky smile plastered on my face for 79% of the class. I love spin too much.

My night class was incredibly amazing as well and we had such a wonderful class! I love that instructing spin is totally different from taking a spin class because I don’t know if I would have had the mental ability to do two spin classes in a day if I were a participant, but because I am not thinking about my own workout and more focused on my participants’ workout, I didn’t even feel tired for my second class!

After my second spin class I was 110% ready for dinner but still had to drive home. I tried out Jugo Juice for the first time and had an “Extreme Protein” smoothie for dinner! It was delicious!

I don’t know how people teach fitness classes for a living, doing multiple classes a day, because yesterday certainly tired me out. Two hours of spin is no joke, especially because I’m kind of a tough teacher πŸ˜‰ Even at the end of the night I was still ready for more though because I added so many awesome songs to my iPod for spin classes – I wanted to play them all! THIS song was the hit of the night.

In case you missed my #TBT (throwback Thursday) photo: I was ALWAYS such a graceful runner.

  1. “Kind of a tough teacher” is definitely an understatement ;)….so is 79%….pretty sure you smiled the entire 100% of the class I came to πŸ™‚

  2. Two classes in a day would be a lot. As a spin instructor are you working as hard as the participants or do you kind of “fake it”. I don’t think I’d have the energy to be yelling out if I was working as hard as I do when I’m in class so I’ve always been curious.

    1. I work as hard as my participants do πŸ™‚ I think if I were teaching more often, like twice a day, I would have to take it easy, but I go hard and count that as my workout… it also helps me gauge when we need breaks and what gears to be at!
