Remember how I said I didn’t want to start my marathon training with an injury? Well, I guess I shouldn’t have gone bowling on my last day in Vancouver because I am pretty sure I strained some sort of glute muscle bowling…
*hangs head in shame*
James has two bowling lanes IN HIS APARTMENT BUILDING so it was necessary that we play a few games. I think I tried a little too hard because after the game my left glute/piraformis area was really tight and sore. I got a turkey (three strikes) during one of the games though #worthit. What an embarrassing “injury,” good thing I don’t broadcast these things to the entire internet or something…
It’s not painful, just really sore and kind of feels like a bruise so I was very happy that yesterday was an easy run on the training schedule. I warmed up for about 20 minutes walking on the treadmill and then took my 6 miles nice and easy.
I took my outfit very seriously for my run, orange tank and blue crops to match my orange and blue shoes. Somehow this worked so well together yet it was one of the only outfits left because I need to do some serious laundry after my trip on the weekend. I have some SUPER awesome new Champion workout clothes to try out -> look forward to more crazy tights and awesome tanks in the next few weeks!
I did some awesome stretches after my run because that is a major priority this training cycle – especially with my ridiculous bowling injury 😉 I love doing some un-plated (minimum weight of 118lbs) single-leg presses to stretch my hamstrings and glutes after a run. THE. BEST. I also love laying on my side and doing leg raises, it REALLY strengthens the hip muscles.
Tomorrow is my first speedwork day in what seems like 83197 years. I have been mentally preparing myself all week and I know I just have to get in there and get it done. 400m repeats which means I will only want to die for a few minutes out of my whole workout 🙂
