Creativity at the pool!

Yesterday I did a leg workout for the first time in weeks. It is really hard to do leg strength training with a fractured bone in your foot so I have had to avoid leg strength for a while. It felt good to get back to those squats and lunges but oh man, I can’t walk today. Slowly but surely my bone is healing and squats will be the reg for me! After a 30 minute warm-up on the stationary bike I did 45 minutes of legs. I finished off my leg workout IN THE POOL!!

I get SO bored in the pool so when I decided to do a lower body workout in the pool I knew I wouldn’t be getting my hair wet. The wireless headphones I have are buried somewhere in my closet and have SUPER old songs on them so I got creative with my music.

Music is 100% necessary in my workouts. I went through a few new spin songs that I had on my iPod shuffle so I could plan spin drills to them while I flutter-kicked.

One great thing about the pool is that I shower (and wash my hair) at the pool so when I get home and I am starving after my workout I can head straight to the kitchen for breakfast instead of having to shower first. It’s the little things. I made chocolate protein waffles and they were all I could ever ask for. I didn’t measure for this recipe but these had whole wheat flour, chocolate protein powder, greek yogurt, egg whites, soy milk, cocoa, olive oil, and vanilla. I had plain greek yogurt with strawberries on the side.

When I got ready for work things got a little crazyโ€ฆ black/grey eye shadow instead of the same brown eye shadow that I have worn for the last 3.4 years of my life. No one noticed. #fail

I was so impressed with my creativity at the pool and even more impressed that I found a way to keep myself entertained while pool running or doing any head-above-the-water swimming. My mom was shocked that I didn’t drop my iPod in the pool or something. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Off to spin to cycle the tightness out of my legs and so I can burn some energy before sitting at work for 8 hours! Happy weekend, enjoy the snow Albertans!!

  2. Chained to a desk 10 hours a day :(. I’ve gained so much weight! I wish I could find as much motivation as you have!
