To be fair, it’s not like I have been walking on crutches for the past five weeks, and there have been times where I have walked way too much on a fractured foot, but yesterday I had my first fast walk workout of 30 minutes PAIN-FREE! It was fabulous because it was sunny and my mom joined me!
It was a good week of exercise and I am still sore from Friday’s leg workout. Like, stairs still hurt and my hamstrings spent some quality time on the foam roller yesterday… ouch. I taught 4 spin classes this week which made up the majority of my cardio. Yesterday I helped my dad rake the yard and that was a quality arm workout to say the least. I also may have a sunburn now.
After her workout yesterday my mom made muffins and carrot cake for the entire neighbourhood… literally. I helped her by taste-testing and delivering. Everyone was so happy and my mom likes to be “known” for her baking, I think everywhere we have lived she has turned into that ‘Martha Stewart neighbour’ that treats life like a Pinterest board. I couldn’t help but think about the episode of Friends where Monica makes candy for her neighbours to get to know them better and she becomes the ‘candy lady.’
That, or she has a new diet plan.
It was so great to have a longer walk (relatively as of late) with no pain. I am taking this week nice and easy and incorporating a bit of walking throughout the week. I read that once you can fast-walk 60 minutes with no pain, you can start with a LITTLE bit of running. So that’s my plan. There is no one recipe for recovery in running because each injury is different and each person’s recovery and return to running is different so I am taking it easy, being cautious as I go, and SLOWLY getting back into running. 😀
