Marathon Monday: Training Week 9!

I don’t know if I can even call it Marathon Monday any more considering I haven’t run in a while due to a foot injury that has kept me sidelined for over two weeks, but oh well, we’ll stick to the status quo around here! This week was full of ups and downs with my foot. One moment I think it’s getting better and the next moment I am on the verge of tears limping around and feeling like I will never heal. It’s been fun for everyone around me 😉

Marathon Monday

I stuck to cycling, strength training, and swimming this week for exercise. It’s hard to stop working out cold turkey especially when you teach spin 3 days a week, but I tried my best to stick to non-impact activities, modify my cycling for less tension out of the saddle, and get more stretching and rolling in than usual.

The one great thing about swimming is that it makes me SUPER thirsty and I can’t stop drinking coffee water after I swim. Yesterday I did a little spin and a little swim. I hit up my gym for 60 minutes of spin. I didn’t do any out of the saddle stuff, just 90rpm moderate gear cycling. I watched an episode of the Jay & Dan podcast while I span to pass the time!


I also met my dad at the pool after I span to do some swimming. My arms were still sore from Friday’s 3K so I stuck to a short workout of 30 minutes (1500m). I did some intervals with the pull-buoy and some laps focused on different component of my stroke which really made the laps go faster. Once I got home I was craving something cold and refreshing so I made a tropical smoothie with frozen strawberries, a fresh orange, plain greek yogurt, and soy milk.


What happened the rest of Sunday:


It wasn’t the training update you were looking for, or I was looking for, but that is where my marathon training is at! It’s super tough to marathon train but I promise you it is even harder NOT to be able to marathon train. When someone complains about how hard their run was or how hot they got on their run I am extremely close to punching them in the face. Run envy is going strong today 😉

  2. It was my daughter’s birthday so hanging out and celebrating with her was the best part of my weekend. It really sucks that you’re still sidelined with an injury. I hope that your foot feels better soon! I know how hard it is to not be able to run 🙁

  3. I’m a physio. I highly suggest physio…I’m not biased 🙂 Most are great at diagnosing and helping you get back to doing what you love 🙂
