I’ve been blogging for two years guys, TWO YEARS. I really can’t believe I’ve been writing these daily posts for two years and it’s even more unbelievable that I still have so much to say after all of that time! I am incredibly thankful for my readers and I can’t believe how much this blog has grown, changed, and progressed over the past year. I’m linking up with Amanda at Running With Spoons to share my thoughts and reflections about the last year!
I worked really hard on the look and content of my blog this year. I couldn’t have ever imagined how important this little website would be to me when I started it two years but I have spent hundreds of hours writing, editing photos, updating my social media for the blog, responding to comments, and perfecting the look of my blog. In December, I switched from Blogger to WordPress, did a few updates from there, and I can’t thank one of my best friends, James, enough for helping me through that process! I just found this photo… I forgot that’s what the original CGR looked like!
There is no way in hell I would be able to recap the last year on this blog because so much has happened! There were a lot of highs, a few lows (I’m looking at you stress fracture), and everything in between. I love writing and sharing my life and I hope you have enjoyed reading over the past two years. In my original introduction on the blog, I said I hoped to one day run a marathon. Now, two marathons down, I am training for the Chicago Marathon and loving every second of it.
I also started teaching spin classes for the City of Edmonton and the City of St. Albert during the last year. In addition to running, cycling and spinning are two of my favourite ways to workout. I love being a group fitness instructor! I like pushing people and challenging them to get out of their comfort zones, even if just for an hour in my spin studio. The smiles on their faces when they come and tell me that they were able to get to a higher gear or last a little while longer during our speed intervals is indescribable.
I crossed “Get a tattoo” off of my bucket list in June when I got Fisher Peak inked on my upper back. I love it so much and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I had been imagining this tattoo for about three years before I got it so it wasn’t a spur of the moment decision, and I definitely recommend doing the same if you are interested in such a permanent work of art! Love it love it love it.
I mean, I guess I did important things like start my Masters degree program at the University of Alberta and buy a car and such, but who really cares about that? Haha!
Probably the most notable accomplishment that you’ve seen on the blog over the last year is my inclusion of breakfasts other than oatmeal with peanut butter. I KNOW. Who am I anymore? In an effort to add more protein to my diet, I’ve expanded my breakfast selections, and when I do have oatmeal, I add half a cup of egg whites to it when I cook it.
YES, this IS that important and should be included in my year recap. 😉
I want to thank my family for being so supportive of this blog and for being down for a photoshoot at any moment. My brother and parents are the best workout partners, cheerleaders, shoulders to cry on, people to laugh with, and friends that any girl could ask for. Before I get TOO sappy, I’ll end this academy award speech with a photo of my brother and I after dominating our log workout yesterday!
In all seriousness, I am so incredibly humbled by each and every comment I get on my blog and each person that stops by to read it. The companies I have worked with, the friends I have made, the bloggers that I have grown to know and love simply because we are connected through our blogs… it’s a pretty cool experience. Thank you so much for being a part of… whatever this is, I truly appreciate it.

Two years down, many more to come.
