Fitness Friday Canadian Girl Runs

This week was another awesome week of workouts. We are now 3 weeks into my 10-week strength training challenge and I am loving it. I really like being able to step back from running and focus on weight lifting for a little bit. I am noticing some strength improvements already, just three weeks in!

I love leg days so much and yesterday I killed it with legs. My favourite exercise lately is weighted step-ups. They are SO hard. I usually carry a 50lb barbell across my back and do 10 step ups on one leg and then 10 on the other leg. I am trying to move out of my comfort zone and lift heavier with my legs which is really fun… it also makes for super sore legs for most of the week when I do legs both Monday and Thursday.

It has been crazy nice here (for November) in Alberta lately so I am trying to run outside as much as possible before the inevitable inhuman cold comes. The run that was a 9:31 pace in the workout summary above was the only one done on the treadmill because I just felt like I could NOT run fast on the treadmill whereas on Wednesday I was so comfortable at 8:40 and it felt easy outdoors. Weird.

Note: I AM wearing a shirt in the photo above, it’s just a tank top and my hair hides it. I SWEAR.

I hope you have an AMAZING weekend. I am heading with a friend to see Dallas Smith in concert tomorrow night and then I work the majority of the weekend. My parents decided not to go away for the weekend and leave me with the house to myself (boo) so I picked up extra shifts at work. 😛

Join the fun! Add a fitness-related, any fitness-related link to the link-up below and take a peek at how others are staying active! Have a fit and fabulous weekend and happy Fitness Friday!

  1. I feel so clueless when it comes to strength training workouts. I go to one HIIT/TRX class a week but I’m not sure how to supplement it. Good for you for going out of your comfort zone to lift heavier!!

  2. I felt like my legs were lead doing a 9:05 pace on the treadmill this morning. I didn’t get it! I think it was because I never run in the mornings and my body didn’t know what was going on. Plus I was getting pretty hungry.

Have a great weekend!! I love that last photo of you. Cute

    1. I find that too actually, sometimes if I haven’t fully waken up yet then I just CANNOT get going on the run. I did my run after strength training today so I was wide awake and it was better. 🙂
