Halloween Weekend Thoughts.

What a fantastic weekend so far! My dad and I are heading home from Calgary this morning after a lovely time. We are sore from our adventures yesterday, we kind of need another day to recover from a weekend away from home, but it was definitely a great weekend! I kind of kept forgetting it was Halloween this Saturday, I am not a huge Halloween person to begin with, but normally I at least carve pumpkins at this time of year! Oh well.

Before we hit the road on Friday I went for a 5-mile run and then headed to the gym for 30 minutes of upper body strength training. After a leg day on Thursday I was pretty sure my run was going to be slower than a turtle in molasses but it actually wasn’t that bad. 5 miles at about 8:40 min/mile, it was a run where everything just felt good. I love coming home from a run to our awesome front door wreath. How cute is my neighbour for making this for our family!

The main reason we went to Calgary was to see the Habs play the Flames. The Canadiens only do one western Canada road trip a year so we have to make the most of it! After the Habs lost (GASP) to the Oilers of all teams on Thursday night we were hoping for a better performance on Friday in Calgary. Boy oh boy did they pull through. A 6-2 win? Yes please.

Saturday my dad was planning on heading home but I managed to convince him that we should head to the mountains for a day of hiking! We met up with a friend of my Aunt’s who was going to be our hiking guide for the day. I managed to finally cross off a hike from my list of summer hikes, one that I have been wanting to do for a while… but more on that tomorrow in my hike recap post!

Let’s talk about my October Fitness Challenge… ummm…

I did THIS ab challenge a total of two times during the month of October. Like seriously, I just can’t commit to Pinterest ab work, it is just so boring to me. BUT I did get a lot of other ab workouts in, like planks, 8-minute abs on Youtube, and HIIT ab moves at the gym. I don’t have a specific November goal because I have a 10-week fitness challenge in progress. If you don’t set goals, you can’t fail them right… 😉

What did YOU dress up for for Halloween?!

What did you get up to this weekend?
