‘Tis the season!

I think it’s dangerous how close I am to full on CHRISTMAS SPIRIT because I still have a term paper to hand in and an exam to write. I just need a couple more days to focus on finishing up my courses and then I can be let loose to take Christmas by storm. I did get to slightly dip my toes in the Christmas festivities this weekend.

On Friday night my brother, parents, and I went out for my brother’s birthday dinner at Buco Italian Pizzeria. Thin crust wood fire pizza? Yes please. We had a really enjoyable meal and then headed home to spend the evening hanging out at our neighbours house. I had a ridiculous amount of energy that night despite waking up at 5am and having a sore throat all day. I can’t believe my baby brother is 20.

I had the best parcel in the mail on Friday! As part of the Canadian Blogger Christmas Ornament Exchange with Leigh at All You Need is Love, I was paired up with Heather from Girl Goes Running (aka the super speedy and awesome chick from the east coast). I sent her gift about two weeks ago so I hope it makes it there soon but she completely NAILED my ornament. HOW CUTE IS THIS.

She also sent me a Christmas card and chocolate from the east coast. It was so personal and perfect! I love it! Heather, you are adorable.

On Saturday I tried to get a fair bit of studying done for my biostatistics final on Tuesday. I slept in and enjoyed a nice relaxing morning making gingerbread pancakes and drinking coffee. I took the day off of exercise to give my very tired and on-the-verge-of-a-cold body a break. I was planning on a run this weekend but if it doesn’t happen it doesn’t happen!

I took a study break and headed for what was suppose to be a snowshoe date but ended up being more of a walk haha! While we did get about 1cm of snow yesterday there just isn’t enough snow in the area to even need snow shoes so we gave up on them and just walked instead. It was really nice because the trees still had a new layer of snow and it was really pretty and quiet where we went. Once we got back to my house we did the only natural December Saturday afternoon activityโ€ฆ DECORATE GINGERBREAD COOKIES! I am ridiculously proud of my gingerbread penguin.

As you probably gathered I cancelled my trip to Calgary this weekend. I missed out on a medium coming to my Aunt’s house for a reading and a blogger Christmas party at Jen’s house but there was just too much holding me at home this weekend for me to justify driving down there. I am so so so sad I missed out but I feel like I made the right call. I have a whole lot of this planned today…

I hope you are having an awesome weekend and maybe get to spend a little more time outdoors than I do! Next weekend I promise to talk a lot less about school. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Do you have your Christmas tree up yet?

Do you have any sentimental ornaments?ย

  1. Love the ornament that Heather sent you…so perfect! Thank you for joining in. And sorry that you weren’t able to come to Jen’s…it would have been fun to meet you!

  2. Yay!!!! I am super happy you liked it. ๐Ÿ™‚ I was worried you’d wonder why I sent you Newfoundland Chocolate since I live in Nova Scotia, but I’m a born Newfoundlander plus I thought those Jelly Bean Row chocolate bars were neat. ๐Ÿ˜‰ I got your package and I’m going to do my post today! Thanks so much it was a totally perfect gift for me….lol. ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. I hear ya! My last final is on Thursday and I’m dying to start baking and shopping (yup- haven’t done that yet) but until the exam is over I need to stay focused and study. Good luck on your paper!
