This week felt AWESOME. I had such a great week of workouts, both strength and running, and I felt like I was really able to balance my strength training and cardio this week which is highly unusual. I also pushed myself a lot more than I have been with running, and it made for some paces that felt “back to me” and faster than I have been running.
I hit a new personal best for my bench press this week, a whopping total of 110lbs. Haha, don’t judge but I have never benched that much weight before so it felt good. I am really thinking about hiring a personal trainer for one or two sessions to show me how to properly do bench press, squats, and deadlifts… the trifecta of powerlifting moves. I know that I would start light with weight and work my way up but I want to get the correct form down first before I start attempting powerlifting.
I have been watching all of MegSquats videos (a Youtube powerlifter) and she has really inspired me to be proud of the strength I am gaining and not to get down on the fact that I no long have my old “runner’s body.” It’s all about perspective!
I hope this upcoming week is just as motivating because my mom made dessert last night and I definitely caved. Purple icing on homemade baking? Count me in. I feel like I’ve done a really good job at least cleaning up my diet after Christmas, especially after the 14-day no sugar added challenge that my mom and I did, all it takes is one little slip-up for things to go sideways but I’m determined to not let that happen! Here is a look at week two of Project Birthday Bod.
I think the amount of sleep I got this past weekend should help me recover from this week of workouts. 😉 I always get to excited to start a new week of training because the possibilities seem endless and I think about all I can accomplish throughout the week. I don’t expect PRs or PBs each week but it’s certainly motivation when you hit one!
