Granola and Sleep: The story of my weekend.

On Friday night after work I got home, had a snack, went to bed (like the cool 22-year old I am) and slept TEN hours. Holy man, I woke up and felt disoriented because I had just slept so hard. I enjoyed a beautiful walk with my mom in the sunshine after breakfast then headed to the gym for a make-up strength workout of legs, chest, and back.


I got home and showered after the gym then walked to meet a friend for coffee. We had a great chat and my walk in the PLUS SIX degree temperature was wonderful and very refreshing. I got home and had the urge to bake or cook or just do something in the kitchen so I dug out one of my favourite cookbooks, “Thug Kitchen” and made the basic maple granola!


These are potentially the worst food photos ever because the sun was setting and the lighting was weird. I used pecans instead of sunflower seeds and agave nectar instead of maple syrup and it turned out super delicious. I also added steel cut oats instead of millet. Granola is so versatile so I basically just added the flavours I like… also ignore my dry skin. 😉



I love free weekends (after many very busy ones) because I can get back to a more relaxed weekend pace, cook more at home, sleep more, and do the things I love! It is ridiculously nice this weekend so I am planning to soak up some vitamin D all day today. Oh, and in case you were wondering…

  2. I am the same way when it comes to weekends! I’ve been overly busy the last few weekends, so this weekend I stayed in my house the whole time and just did NOTHING. Well, today I’m watching the Rock of Love marathon and going for a run, but you know what I mean 🙂 Congrats on your relaxing weekend!
