Good morning! What a whirlwind weekend! I spent just over 24 hours in Calgary and they were the best 24 hours I could have had there! Ashley invited a bunch of bloggers over to her NEW gorgeous house for a housewarming party and after so many weekends of FOMO watching these ladies get together and have a blast I knew I had to make the trip!
I drove down Saturday morning after skipping my run in favour of a rest day and met one of my friends at the Calgary Zoo. Yes, it’s normal for two people over twenty to go to the zoo without little kids in tow. 😉 We spent a few hours wandering the zoo and I have established that the penguins and giraffes are the cutest. No question. I headed to Ashley’s later that afternoon and we spent the night chatting, drinking, eating, and playing Cards Against Humanity (not to brag or anything but… I WON… I’d like to add that my parents are obviously super proud that this is the type of thing I excel at HAHA).
The evening at Ashley’s ended near 11 and I headed over to Brie’s house for the night with Becky. (P.S. Thanks Brie for letting me crash on your couch!) We chatted a bit before heading to bed shortly after 1am, knowing we were committed to a BodyPump class the next morning! I headed to Goodlife a bit early and got some cardio done (stairs + elliptical) before my FIRST BodyPump class. I will recap my experience with the class tomorrow but in short, it flew by, I had a great time, and definitely felt the burn!
After BodyPump we changed clothes and headed for brunch at Bow Valley Ranche. I had never been to this adorable little restaurant before but it was super cute! It’s definitely pricey but delicious and a really neat experience. I had the vegetarian omelette with fresh sourdough instead of potatoes. YUM.
We spent the next couple hours eating and chatting and I spent most of the time wishing I lived just a bit closer to this awesome group of women. These ladies are some of the most supportive, encouraging, inspiring, and motivating people on the planet. I am so thankful blogging has brought me such an awesome group of friends, I love these girls!
After brunch I hit the highway to head home, unshowered all weekend and slightly tired, but with a smile on my face from an awesome weekend with some wonderful girls. The BodyPump class topped off a decent week of workouts, minus one longish run that unfortunately didn’t happen, but as my mom said when she read THIS post, “There’s always tomorrow, you can’t do it all.”
I want to thank Ashley, Brie, and all of the girls who made this weekend perfect. If anyone is looking to hire an almost-graduating public health nutrition student in Calgary in the next couple months you know where to find me. 😉
Do you go on many weekend getaways or take the time to stay home?
Weekend brunch – yay or nay? I will always say yes to brunch!
