I hope your weekend is going swimmingly (<- is that a saying?). I spent my day dreaming of gallivanting in the mountains and running through trails while stuck at work all day. I did get a solid speedy run in with my momma in the morning and then walked to and from work, but I spend a good chunk of the day inside. I was actually so excited to walk to work because it meant I could keep listening to my audiobook.
I love walking to work, the fresh air and all, but getting to listen to someone tell me a murder mystery story is awesome. It felt like a spring day in the morning and my mom and I both agreed as we were running that we were boiling in long sleeve tops, but then by the afternoon it was gray and cloudy and a perfect day for reading. I have kept to my New Year resolution to read more, and as I begin to read “After You,” the sequel to the brilliant “Me Before You,” I thought I’d share what I’ve been reading.
- White Heat by M.J. McGrath – This book was just okay. Set in the northern Arctic, describing the life and mysteries of a community of Inuit peoples, I had high hopes for this novel but it wasn’t written very well and the mystery wasn’t as intriguing as I thought it would be. It was neat that it had such a unique setting but it wasn’t a stellar novel.
- The Life We Bury and The Guise of Another by Allen Eskens. BRILLIANT. I did listen to both of these on audio book so who knows if it would have been the same had I read them myself but they were both really good drama mystery fiction novels. I really enjoyed them and I’m slightly sad that I powered through both books so fast and Eskens has only written the two!
I am really considering joining a book club because once I finish a really good book all I want to do is talk about it! I’m hoping Brie will let me join her virtual book club because that sounds as fun as it is nerdy and I love it!
Happy reading, er, I mean… happy weekending!
