PBB: Workout Recap 12.

We made it to the end of Project Birthday Bod. 12 weeks of transition from almost purely strength training to a more comprehensive fitness routine that got me back into running shape! Considering my birthday is exactly 2 sleeps away, the finale of PBB has arrived!

pbb workout recap

This last week finished off with a nice intense week of workouts. By the end of the week my legs were tired and I was definitely ready to take it easy, which speaks to how much I pushed myself during the week. I am really happy I fell back in love with running, and considering the current weather forecast is nothing but sunshine and above zero temperatures, I hope that love for running continues! I was extremely consistent with my strength workouts, which has maintained my strength that I started to build after the Chicago Marathon last fall. I have improved my running from about 2-3 times a week to about 3-5 times a week.

Overall, I’m really happy with how PBB went. It forced me to push myself a little more to get stronger, and increased my cardio. You’ll find out what my next training routine is going to be on Friday, but for now, I have 4 days of unscheduled workouts, and I can reassess my goals, regain focus, and prepare for whatever challenge pops into my head next. I didn’t lose the weight I hoped too, but there’s always tomorrow and now that I have my brother committed to challenge himself alongside me, I am even more determined. 😉

In case you missed what I did for the first half of Easter weekend, my recap is HERE. Yesterday I slept in (like, major sleep-in for me), made a delicious breakfast, then walked to the grocery store for a few ingredients that I needed for pot luck dishes later that day. It was a good way to digest and get a little more Vitamin D, as well as assess the running conditions… would I need a jacket? Is it windy? Is it still muddy? I went home, got a few things started for dinner, then headed out for a leisurely 5 mile run.

After my run I made a quinoa and asparagus salad, as well as these ADORABLE Easter bird’s nests for a pot luck easter dinner at my friend’s house. (They turned out amazing, only fibre 1 cereal, butterscotch chips, peanut butter, and Cadbury Minieggs!)

I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend with friends and family. It was BEAUTIFUL all weekend and I enjoyed every second of the sunshine. I’m heading to an Oilers game tonight with friends after work which should be a blast. 🙂

What did you get up to this weekend?

What is your favourite Easter chocolate or candy?

  1. Well done, lady! I’m loving strength training lately. Mostly because it’s the only thing I can do right now and I don’t have the patience for cardio machines.

Those nests are so cute!!! Mini eggs, Oreo cadbury eggs, robin eggs and REESES PB EGGS (or cups) are my fav. All the chocolate. No candy. I hate candy so much. Especially jellybeans and peeps. Ew go away.

    1. Thanks girl! I agree 100%, all the chocolate, no candy. I don’t understand how people like peeps… they are incredibly disgusting!
