Weekend Recap: Banff and Family.

Happy Monday! As you read this I am somewhere driving home from a weekend in Calgary with family. It was a whirlwind weekend, but aren’t they all when you try to jam in family time, a surprise birthday party (spoiler alert: I was late for the actual surprise), a hike, and a trip to wander Banff.

My family and I drove down on Friday to Calgary, met up with my family, chatted and grabbed groceries, and spent time hanging out in our AirBNB house. There were 7 of us renting a big house so it’s safe to say not much sleep was had by everyone. On Saturday, I woke up and got ready to head to Canmore to meet up with Jo and Saba to hike Ha Ling. (I’ll post about the hike tomorrow!)

Saturday night I arrived late my great aunt’s birthday party, and spent the evening rehydrating from the hike and enjoying the company of my relatives from Manitoba. The evening ended fairly early and we came back to our house to lounge around and chat some more. On Sunday we lazed around in the morning before heading to Banff for a day of wandering. No one else in my family is very enthusiastic about hiking so my idea for round two of a hike was a no-go, but we browsed the shops and spent time at Bow Falls.

I am always so sad to leave the mountains, but it was great to hang out there with family. I also began looking around to see which mountains I wanted to cross off my summer bucket list this year. Ha Ling was a good one and I can’t wait to share about our hike tomorrow! Luckily my family didn’t mind that I abandoned them for time in the mountains.

How was your weekend?

What mountains should I add to my “Definitely Hike These Mountains List”?
