Taking a week off of Fitness Friday was weird. I won’t recap two weeks of workouts because that would be to most unread and ignored post on my blog, but I will take a look at my most recent workouts, specifically hiking, and the fact that I used “recovery” as an excuse to sleep in every morning this week. 😉
Friday, July 29
Vision Quest Hike (5.5km; 2500ft elevation gain), described as a “relentless climb from the onset of the trail to the top” and they weren’t lying. It was a lovely butt-burner and one to certainly set your quads on fire.
Saturday, July 30
Allstones Lake Hike (5-6km; 2100ft elevation gain); another climb to the top, not as steep but certainly a steady climb. We also ran down this mountain after hearing lots of thunder so it was a quick descent.
Sunday, July 31
Monday, August 1
5.0 mile run (9:03 min/mile)
60 minute walk
Tuesday, August 2
130 minutes walking
3.1 mile run (8:40 min/mile) AT NIGHT!
Wednesday, August 3
60 minutes upper body strength training
You guys, it kills me to go inside to the gym now when it’s so nice and sunny outside so suffice to say I haven’t been as diligent with strength training lately. OH BOY did I feel this workout the next day. I thought my shoulders were going to fall off and I struggled hard to put on my shirt because I was so sore!
2 X 50 minute walk to and from work
Thursday, August 4
60 minute spin class (instructing)
60 minute walk
I taught a straight fire spin class with awesome music. Some of my latest faves are “Cold Water” by Major Lazer ft. Justin Bieber and “Closer” by Chainsmokers. There was a solid turnout for spin and I made it a tough class. 😉
