Happy Monday peeps… but more importantly, HAPPY OCTOBER. I think March and October are tied for my favourite months. March because the snow melts and you can start to feel spring coming, and because it’s my birthday month. October I love because it just feels like fall. You look around and you can see all of the gorgeous leaves changing colour and you run and walk through crunchy leaves. You can also leave your window open at night and sleep in the most amazing crisp air. This dog is my soul animal.
On Friday night I was a total party animal. I arrived home from work, having been freezing cold in my office all day, drew myself a hot bath, cracked a beer, put a “detoxifying” mud face mask on, and read my book in the tub. I then proceeded to read for two or three more hours before falling asleep for a solid 9 hours.
On Saturday I slept in, made some brunch, then drove to my old gym near my parents house to get a solid workout in. I did 60 minutes of upper body (with some squats and lunges to break things up and to not take any rests) and then 60 minutes of spin. I threw on my latest spin class playlist from teaching the week before and just went for it. Once I was a hot and sweaty mess I stopped by my parents house to say hi and my brother and I grabbed some umbrellas and went for a little walk around the neighbourhood. It was super nice to catch up and although it was windy and raining… THESE COLOURS.
Once I got home and showered and made dinner, it was time to meet my guy friend for a beer. He wanted to watch the end of the Jays game so that’s what we did before heading to see a movie. We went to see Snowden, about Edward Snowden the whistleblower and I really enjoyed it. I absolutely adore Joseph Gordon Levitt so of course I liked the movie but it was also just really interesting to get to experience the story of the whistleblower. I definitely recommend it.
On Sunday I did chores. Laundry, groceries, cleaning my entire apartment, preparing meals for the week, paying car insurance, blah blah blah. It was really productive and in the early afternoon I made it out for a lovely 5 mile run. I had a terrible side stitch about 1.5 miles in and I told myself just to make it to 3 but once the stitch went away I just kept going because it was SO NICE OUT! It was a good way to break up a day full of chores and being inside. 🙂
