It pays to check your junk mail. I started seeing a few people pop up on social media announcing their Nuun ambassadorship and realized I hadn’t made the cut. I made a last ditch attempt to check my junk mail (my junk mail doesn’t load properly on Mail) and as luck would have it, this girl is a Nuun Ambassador! I remember the good old days when my blog was just starting out and I was probably willing to review and rep any company but now I’m a little more picky. I want my readers to know that I’m truly proud to attach my name to brands I love. I legit use Nuun for many of my adventurous pursuits (aka gettin’ sweaty) and I’m super happy to be part of the team!
Two of my favourite things about Nuun: (1) it has provided the perfect balance of electrolytes for me and allows me to go for a long run without getting nauseous and (2) the flavour is so subtle and delicious that it is so much better than the sweeter sports drinks.
Nuun was a LIFESAVER on the West Coast Trail. With long days of hiking, usually between 5 and 8 hours, every day for a week, we relied on Nuun to replace our electrolytes and keep us hydrated. I remember explicitly telling my dad that I loved how Nuun helped our filtered creek water taste “less like dirt.” #flashbackfriday
I remember when I did my first marathon training cycle and I couldn’t figure out why I was so sick for the entire day after a long run. I could have a really good run and then when I finished I wouldn’t be able to eat or drink and would feel nauseous all day and I realized… electrolytes. I sweat A LOT while exercising so once I started taking Nuun on my long runs and during recovery, I felt so much better! I do the same on long bike rides. My dad and I both carry Nuun in our seat bags, along with Chapstick, CO2 chargers, and a spare tire tube.
I’m pretty excited to be a 2017 Ambassador for Nuun and I’m incredibly appreciative that I’m able to do it! For the record, my favourite flavour so far of Nuun Active is tri-berry (pictured). As I embark on my potential quest for my fourth marathon, I’m gear up with the best stuff possible. I mean, I get that it’s my body that has to get me through training and across the finish line but let’s face it, it’s nice to have an army with you during training.
I went for a celebratory 5 mile run last night before crashing early with my book and some dark chocolate and peppermint tea in bed. It’s honestly like my perfect evening at home.
